Merino Buff – versatile headgear
I have been using a cotton buff for years but out in bad weather it would soak up lots of water and take forever to dry. After good experience with Merino shirts I had to buy the Merino buff when I saw it in the store. Merino beats synthetics bigtime!
The benefits of Merino wool are described in detail in my review of the Icebreaker Bodyfit shirt. In short, it’s cool in summer, warm in winter, it is water repelling, quick drying, anti-microbial and fire resistant. All nice features to have in a piece of clothing.
Essentially, the Buff is a tube of fabric. It is a piece of headgear that can be worn as a scarf, beanie, balaclava, ninja-style, pirate, and many more, as neatly demonstrated on the buffwear website. I bought mine at Bever for EUR 21,95 – not cheap for some headgear but for those already familiar with Merino products know that’s the price you pay for quality.
I may end up writing a more thorough review at a later time.
