Adjusting cell height in LaTeX tables

By default, LaTeX builds very compact tables and tabulars. What if we want a bit more “air” around the entries?

After some searching I found this post:

\renewcommand\arraystretch{MyValue}% (MyValue=1.0 is for standard spacing)

Quite simply, changing MyValue to a value larger than 1.0 adds a bit more margin to the cells in the vertical direction.
